4 new judges appointed in Rajasthan High Court

Jaipur, March 27, 2025.

Rajasthan High Court received four new judges following a presidential appointment notification issued Wednesday. Former lawyers Anand Sharma, Sunil Beniwal, Mukesh Rajpurohit and Sandeep Shah were named as the new judges.

The notification issued by joint secretary Jagannath Srinivasan specified that the appointments would take effect from the date the new judges assume their respective offices. With these additions, the total strength of the HC will rise to 37 judges.

While Sharma hails from Jaipur, the other three judges are from Jodhpur. Shah and Beniwal previously served as additional advocate generals in 2019 while Rajpurohit was appointed assistant solicitor general of the Union govt at Jodhpur in 2020.

The appointments come following recommendations made by the Supreme Court collegium on March 5, which had initially proposed seven names for elevation to the high court. The three other names in the original list included former additional advocate general Sheetal Mirdha, advocate Sandeep Taneja and Bar Council of Rajasthan vice-chairman Baljinder Singh Sandhu
