Everyone’s favorite actor, businessperson, mom and cultural icon, Drew Barrymore is creating an army of optimism and she’s looking for recruits! You heard it right. This festive season celebrates we-time with your friends and family in an exciting dose of cheer and inspiration from the endearing Charlie’s Angels sensation in ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ on Zee Café airing weeknights at 9.
The week’s highlight episode that recently aired on the channel featured Academy Award, Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning actor seen in her latest ‘The Witches’, Anne Hathaway. Her impeccable performances in Bride Wars, The Devil Wears Prada, Les Misérables, Alice In Wonderland among others has struck a chord with audiences across the globe. What’s wonderful to witness is Anne and Drew’s friendship which goes a long way and adds to the infectious energy seen in the upcoming episode.
Drew Barrymore had her heart out for her close friend and immensely talented actress Anne Hathaway, she says, “I’m always crushing on you. You’re just so stunning and I’ve always been such a huge fan of yours for so long and even now my daughters freak out when they watch you on screen.”
Having been a part of several popular Rom-Coms, Drew gushes with praise for Anne on her versatility of roles she has played over the years. Anne was modest in her reply saying, “When you look at all of my films, you have to look at the directors. We do our best but then it takes on a whole another life when the director’s the one who guides it, edits it, works the music that goes on top of it and so when I think of those performance, I thinks it’s because I’ve had such amazing directors protecting me.”
It’s always great to keep your friends in high spirits every now and then and Anne just had the right words for Drew on her comeback to television. “You’re so charming and candid on the show; I can just watch you forever. Whenever I’m scrolling through channels and I come across your face, I’m just so happy, it gives me the best feeling.”
Returning to screen after a break can always be a tough challenge. Anne shares her thoughts on this saying, “I feel like I’m going through something similar and it’s a funny thing. We talk about these things as if they’re specific line breaks as opposed to another thing which is this accumulation of experience and wisdom and everything builds on each other like layers. We always look at ourselves in these specific ways and we’re just getting to a point where we’re more relaxed and accepting that we’re all sorts of different things and whether you have kids is not relevant.”
Speaking about her iconic role in Bride Wars, Anne Hathaway shares an interested anecdote. She says, “I remember when I read that script it was a quick ‘yes’ because it made me laugh. The original script was a very deep R-Rated film but where we wound up was a place that was a little more feel good.”
Digging up an old picture from the archives, Drew shared a photo of Anne Hathaway who was seen in her element at Drew’s Halloween party. To this, Anne spills the beans on the man seen next to her in the photo. “Do you know who the guy next to me is?” says Anne and goes on to reveal, “That’s my husband and your Halloween party was our second date.” Drew Barrymore reacts saying, “How crazy is that? And you looked so cute. You looked like a hot androgynous fem dude from a Fellini film.”
Anne Hathaway then takes questions from fans in the audience, answering questions about her family’s Halloween plans and the two roles she’s always wanted to but never got to play. One such enthusiastic fan asks, “Is there anything that you haven’t played yet that you are interested in?” Anne shares, “Oh why yes, there’s lots and lots of things…. In terms of roles that I think have come and gone. I wish that I played Juliet in ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and I wish I played Eliza Doolittle in ‘My Fair Lady.’”
