Centre announces 24% salary hike for MPs:Monthly income increased from ₹1L to ₹1.24L; pension revised from ₹25,000 to ₹31,000 per month

The Central government has officially announced a 24% increase in the salaries of Members of Parliament (MPs), effective from 1 April 2023. In addition to the salary hike, daily allowances have been raised by 25%, and pensions for both serving and former MPs have been increased by 24%.

According to a circular issued by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the monthly salary for MPs will rise from ₹1,00,000 to ₹1,24,000. Their daily allowance has been revised from ₹2,000 to ₹2,500.

The monthly pension for both MPs and ex-MPs has been increased from ₹25,000 to ₹31,000. Furthermore, former MPs will now receive an additional pension of ₹2,500 per year of service, up from the previous ₹2,000.
