Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has achieved yet another significant milestone in its relentless endeavor towards the betterment of the society. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the Company today organized a massive tree plantation drive across seven locations in the country, under which over 2.5 lakh trees were planted.

The plantation drive by the Company in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand – with over 35,000 families from 36 gram panchayats and 15 wards in the region planting over 2.1 lakh trees – has been verified by the ‘Asia Book of Records and ‘India Book of Records’ and has been officially registered as a new record – ‘Maximum families participating in a tree plantation drive’.

Mr. Vijay Sethi, CIO, CHRO and Head – CSR Hero MotoCorp, Mr. Shailendra Tyagi OSD CM Uttarakhand, Mr. N.P Maheshwari Principal Govt. P.G College Rishikesh, were among the dignitaries present on the occasion. Dr. Pervez Ahmed, the adjudicator from Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records, handed over the provisional certificate of the new record to Mr. Sethi.

Simultaneous plantation drives were organized by the Company at New Delhi, Gurugram, Dharuhera, Neemrana, Jaipur and Halol.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Vijay Sethi, CIO, CHRO and Head CSR, Hero MotoCorp, said, “As a responsible organization, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes are designed to have a positive impact on as many lives as possible. A large part of our CSR initiatives goes towards meeting our environmental aspirations, as part of which we have planted over 14 lakh trees across the country since 2015.It gives us an immense sense of fulfillment that the ‘Asia Book of Records’ and ‘India Book of Records’ have recognized the efforts of the extended Hero family and the people of the region. This is going to encourage and motivate us further to keep working towards the conservation and protection of the environment.”

Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, Editor-in-chief, Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records, said, “Firstly, a big congratulations to Hero MotoCorp and the citizens of Dehradun district. We are glad to certify this noble cause by Hero MotoCorp. The record has been registered on the basis of the given guidelines and a minimum criterion by the Book of Records. This is a new record being inducted in our publication and we hope that more such records are set in the future. Wishing Hero MotoCorp continued success in their work towards the protection of the environment.”

Asia Book of Records is a platform where the record holders of all major National ‘Book of Records’ including ‘India Book of Records’, ‘Vietnam Book of Records’, ‘Indo-China Book of Records’, ‘Laos Book of Records’ and ‘Nepal Book of Records’ meet to compare, compete and claim the title of ‘Asia Book of Records’ Holder. Today ‘Asia Book of Records’ is having a strong database of 40,000 entries.

India Book of Records is affiliated to Asia Book of Records and follows Asian Protocol of Records (APRs) as per the consensus arrived at the meeting of the Chief Editors of National Record Books, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Happy Earth – This is an outward extension of Hero’s imbibed philosophy of Manufacturing Happiness and building Garden Factories which not only make bikes but also give back to the environment. As part of this initiative, the Company is helping make the planet greener, sustainable, reduce carbon footprint, help eco-systems thrive and nourish.

Aimed towards Women Empowerment, Hero MotoCorp runs two initiatives – ‘Hamari Pari’ and ‘E2 (Educate to Empower) – that work towards the up liftment of underprivileged girls and young women in the country.
