Chinese Ambassador to India Sun Weidong’s statement that Beijing and New Delhi should never let differences overshadow relations and resolve them through communication is a big diplomatic win for India and NSA Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and CDS Bipin Rawat were in action once again during the crisis. 

it was a day and night salvage operation and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was kept updated by the NSA about all developments.

Jaishankar leveraged personal ties with the Chinese envoy who had worked closely with the EAM when he was posted as India’s Ambassador in Beijing from 2009 to 2013.

Sun had served as Deputy Director-General during Jaishankar’s posting in China.
