Salumber and Dungarpur districts of Rajasthan honored with National Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Award – 2024

President Smt. Draupadi Murmu honored Salumber and Dungarpur districts of Rajasthan with the National Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Award – 2024 on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Salumber district and District Collector Mr. Ankit Kumar Singh on behalf of Dungarpur district received this award from the President in the award ceremony organized by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on Tuesday at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

After receiving the award at the ceremony, Salumber Collector Shri Jasmeet Singh Sandhu said that under the ‘Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan’, more than 1,000 government buildings in the district have been made accessible for the disabled. For this, provision of ramps and lifts was made, for which door-to-door survey was conducted to identify the disabled people.

He said that the campaign run by the district administration in collaboration with NGOs and various departments has ensured better accessibility and awareness for the disabled community by issuing more than 5,900 disability certificates and 4,400 UDID cards.
