Udaipur, August 10, 2019.

ScooNews Global Educators Fest (SGEF) 2019 brought together 500 educators, 50 speakers and leading lights from the global education space to brainstorm on ideas, practices and policies related to ‘Education for Sustainability: Moving on from Conformity to Creativity’. The third edition of the SGEF is being hosted at the Ananta, Udaipur and was inaugurated by Ravi Santlani, Founder & CEO, ScooNews. 

Ravi quoted “Today, as we ignite the fire within our youth, by building capacities for skilling and scholarship; for technology, engineering and entrepreneurship, etc. are we harnessing the unlimited human capital of our youth and in doing so, are we actually living up to the principles of our freedom struggle.” 

The Fest kicked off with the unveiling of ‘EdBank’, an online platform that will be the future of learning, collaboration and networking for educators, school leaders and innovators. Day one saw prominent Industry leaders as speakers like Matthew Raggett, Headmaster of The Doon School, Divya Lal, Managing Director Ebix Smartclass, Poonam Singh Jamwal, Director Extramarks and others who shared their insights on varied topics ranging from ‘How to create a school environment conducive to raising readers’ to ‘The only way to create the skills of the future, is to disrupt the education of today’ and more. 

Day two brought a dazzling gallery of speakers including the keynote address by His Excellency Shri V P Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab & Administrator – UT of Chandigarh, and inspiring speeches by Sonam Wangchuk (Founder, SECMOL and HIAL Ladakh), Anand Kumar (Founder, Super 30), Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar (Trustee, Maharana of Mewar Charitable Trust and Patron of SGEF 2019). 

Top industry veterans, heads from reputed schools around the country and some international leading lights shared interesting views on topics ranging from ‘Encouraging creativity in the classroom’ to ‘Why and how of international partnerships in schools’ and more during the panel discussions of the day. Panelists included Dr Madhav Singh Deo Saraswat (Principal of Scindia School, Gwalior), Sharad Bansal (CEO, Tinkerly), Sandy Mathewson (Head of Prep School, The Glasgow Academy, Scotland), Matthew K Pearce (Rector, The Glasgow Academy, Scotland) and others.

The fest hosted an expo where the delegates explored a world of industry-specific innovations, solutions and services showcased by participants. Two open house session were also conducted in the evening, one by Lt Col A. Sekhar on the ‘importance of failure’ when it comes to achieving success with values and the other by Arunabh Singh on Future 2020: Which is the most quintessential skill to thrive.

Following the open houses, the main event of the day, a high point of SGEF – the ScooNews “Teacher Warrior Awards” and the “Jewels of India” awards took place. The Teacher Warrior award is bestowed upon worthy men and women, who go to astounding lengths to better the lives of disadvantaged children. 

The ScooNews Global Education Awards were presented by Mr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, Mr. Sonam Wangchuk & Mr. Ravi Santlani. The awards recognised exceptional educators, educational institutions, teachers, education technology companies and start-ups working in the education sector. These awards raise awareness and bring to the limelight outstanding work being done in the field of education, worldwide. 

The event ended on a positive note with an announcement that the 4th instalment of SGEF is scheduled for 7 & 8th 2020 in Goa.
