Mumbai, March, 2020: Spartan Poker, India’s leading digital gaming platform, and MukkaMaar, an organisation that aims to empower girls from Municipal schools through free martial arts and self-defence training, celebrated International Women’s Dayat P A Mhatre Sports Ground, Juhu, Mumbai.

The team of Spartan Poker and MukkaMaar along with other personalities such as Richa Chadda, Nilofer Khan and Meghana Kaushik came together to celebrate the power of womanhood. The aim of this initiative was to make underprivileged girls equipped with self-defence, and in the truest sense empowering the girls.

As part of the programme, MukkaMaar organized an inter-school competition to provide young girls a platform to showcase their power, strength and courage. The event also featured impactful and fascinating performances by martial artists and the MukkaMaar girls. In addition, MukkaMaar girls enacted various incidents to teach young girls how to defend themselves in difficult situations and explore their true potential. The event was attended by students, parents, teachers, principals, and authorities from the Education office.

Commenting on the event, actress Richa Chaddasaid,”I’m proud of the MukkaMaar team who is continuously striving hard to reach out to underprivileged girls and teach them self-defence. I am also very pleased to be a part of such a great initiative on Women’s Day and would like to mention to all parents that it’s important for young girls to be trained for martial arts and self-defence. They should be courageous, brave and march confidently in all areas of their lives.”

Expressing her excitement at the event, Ishita Sharma, Actress/Co-founder of MukkaMaar said, “It’s heartening and a proud moment to see the impact of all efforts of MukkaMaar team for another successful event. The purpose of such programmes is to strengthen, share, and spread awareness on the roles and rights of women in society. I believe that self-defence is very important with the power it holds. It teaches one confidence, courage and helps break the notion of gender-based violence. I would also like to thank the Spartan Poker team; the event would not have been possible without their support and help.”

Expressing his gratitude Amin Rozani, MD and Co-founder, Spartan Poker said, “We highly appreciate such a thoughtful initiative started by Ishita and the MukkaMaar team. All school kids, especially young girls should learn martial arts and self-defence as it doesn’t only make them physically equipped but it also leads them to living a healthier and better lifestyle. It’s an honour to have associated with MukkaMaar team who has been a constant in making this bigger and better every year.”
