Govt denies nationwide rollout of satellite-based tolling from 1 May 2025
New Delhi , April 19, 2025.The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has officially denied reports suggesting that satellite-based toll collection would replace the existing FASTag system from 1 May 2025. In a statement issued recently, the ministry clarified that no such decision has been taken by either MoRTH or the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).Notably, the clarification follows widespread media reports speculating a complete shift from FASTag to a satellite-driven model.
