Traditions of Jyestha month: Jyestha month will last till June 10, anoint Lord Shiva with cold water, arrange food and water for birds

Today (14 May) is the second day of Jyeshtha, the third month of the Hindi calendar. In this month, the heat is in full effect. In the month of Jyeshtha, fasts and festivals like Vat Savitri Vrat, Ganga Dussehra, Nirjala Ekadashi are celebrated, which tell us the importance of water in the summer days.

In the month of Jyeshtha, the biggest Ekadashi of the year i.e. Nirjala Ekadashi (6th June) is observed as a fast. On this Ekadashi, devotees do not even drink water the whole day. In the summer season, people stay hungry and thirsty the whole day and worship Lord Vishnu.

In the month of Jyeshtha, one should wake up before sunrise every morning. After taking bath, one should offer water to the rising sun. Use a copper vessel to offer water. Offer water to the sun while chanting the mantra Om Suryay Namah. After offering water, offer water to Tulsi as well.

After offering water to the Sun, worship in the temple of your house and chant the mantras of your favorite deity. Like Om Namah Shivaya for Shiva, Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay for Vishnu, Krim Krishnaya Namah for Shri Krishna, You can chant the mantra Ra Ramay Namah for Shri Ram, Shri Ramdutaya Namah for Hanuman ji, Dun Durgaayi Namah for Mother Goddess.

Anoint Lord Shiva with cold water. Apply sandalwood paste on Shivling. Offer Bilva leaves, Dhatura, Ankde flowers. Light incense sticks and lamps. Offer Prasad. Perform Aarti. Chant the mantras of God
