An Akasa Air flight (QP-1146) from Delhi to Ahmedabad was diverted to Jaipur Airport late Monday night due to adverse weather conditions over Ahmedabad. The flight, which was originally scheduled to land in Ahmedabad, touched down in Jaipur around 1:25 am.
The unexpected diversion left over 170 passengers, including children, elderly, and women, stranded at Jaipur Airport for nearly 12 hours without proper arrangements.
Passengers were allowed to disembark only after about an hour and a half, and then directed to the arrival lounge. However, the airline failed to provide any concrete information about the rescheduled flight. Stranded passengers alleged that Akasa Air did not provide food, water, or any form of assistance during the long wait, leaving them frustrated and exhausted.
“We’ve been here since last night, without any food or updates,” said Anupam, a passenger. “The airline hasn’t informed us about any alternate flight or arrangements. We are in distress, and the authorities must take action.”
According to sources, the flight crew reached the limit of their permissible duty hours after landing in Jaipur, due to which they were relieved from duty. Akasa Air did not immediately arrange for replacement pilots, causing the prolonged delay. Only after a considerable wait did a fresh crew arrive to operate the onward journey to Ahmedabad.
