The state govt’s initiative to digitise operations through IHMS faces significant challenges due to recurring server failures, hampering online registration, prescription management and related healthcare processes.
Power disruption for few minutes on Saturday witnessed which affected the IHMS.
Whenever technical issues with the IHMS system’s server happen it causes widespread disruption in healthcare services across major state hospitals, including SMS Hospital, affecting patient care and treatment processes.
In such an incident, On Friday government hospitals throughout the state experienced a server outage affecting OPD registration, test billing and admission procedures.
“The server failed on Friday for two hours not only in SMS hospital but also in other hospitals of the state. Due to which the patients face difficulties in treatment,” said a senior SMS hospital official.
Patients encountered difficulties across multiple facilities, including Jaipuria Hospital, Janana Hospital, and Sanganeri Gate Women’s Hospital. The absence of offline alternatives complicated matters further, as the administration had not established manual backup systems.
The prolonged server issues severely impacted patient care. The complete digitalisation of services, from blood banks to X-ray imaging, OPD registration, and diagnostic test billing at SMS Hospital, means that server failures effectively pause all hospital online operations, said the SMS hospital officials.
The health department has plans to make prescription written by doctors online and through online system the prescription will reach drug distribution counter for medicine distribution. Besides all such processes will be made online but the govt has managed to do registration of patients online yet
