The government has introduced a new Aadhaar app that allows for face ID authentication. This verification system does not require the physical Aadhaar card to be carried or photocopies to be submitted. Aadhaar users can now identify themselves using a smartphone with just a face scan, anywhere and anytime.
With the upgraded app, the Aadhaar facial recognition feature is set to redefine digital identity as it replaces the physical cards and photocopies.
UIDAI has launched the upgraded version of the Aadhaar mobile app for its users. The enhancements include facial recognition technology for Aadhaar authentication – a first in the country.
This is the next step in the country’s digital governance initiative. It is aimed towards making identity verification easy while balancing privacy and security.
