n his recent ‘Mann ki Baat’ address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on people to use a special mobile app called ‘Sachet’, launched by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). This app is designed to help people stay alert and safe during natural disasters.
PM Modi stressed that the most important tool during any disaster is alertness. The ‘Sachet’ app offers real-time, geo-tagged alerts for disasters like floods, cyclones, landslides, tsunamis, forest fires, avalanches, storms, hurricanes, and lightning. It gives timely weather updates from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) to help people prepare in advance.
“This app can save lives by warning users early. It’s available in 12 Indian languages and even has a read-out feature for easy understanding,” said the Prime Minister.
