Fungal infections are at rise in monsoon

Jaipur, June 10, 2025.

Monsoon has started knocking on the doors. Although rain is all about enjoying hot tea on balcony, the surge in moisture poses a particular risk to skin, particularly Fungal Infection.

Everyone thinks it is their embarrassing little secret – a constant itch (sometimes in an unmentionable area of the body), red and flaky skin, discoloured patches, or a stinging/burning sensation.

According to National Library of Medicine, a fungal infection is a condition caused by harmful fungi invading and growing on or inside the body. It can affect various areas like skin, nails, mouth, or internal organs. Common examples include athlete’s foot, ringworm, candida, and thrush. These infections often thrive in warm, moist environments and can cause itching, redness, and discomfort.
