Priyadarshan announces retirement!:After ‘Haiwaan’ and ‘Hera Pheri 3’, hopes to leave the film industry, says, ‘now started to feel tired

Mumbai, August 25, 2025.

Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan has said that he is preparing to retire from films. He said that after completing films like ‘Haiwaan’ and ‘Hera Pheri 3’, he will retire from the film industry.

In conversation with Onmanorama, Priyadarshan said, “I will retire after these films. Now I’m starting to feel tired.”

‘Haiwaan’ is inspired by his 2016 Malayalam film ‘Oppam’. However, several changes have been made to the dialogue and screenplay. The film will star Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles. Meanwhile, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Sayami Kher are also playing important characters.

Mohanlal will make a cameo appearance in ‘Haiwaan’

Mohanlal, who played the lead role in ‘Oppam’, will also have a cameo in ‘Haiwaan’. Priyadarshan said, “His character will be a surprise for the audience.”

The film’s shooting is ongoing in Kochi. After this, the location will change to Vagamon, Ooty and Mumbai for shooting. The interesting thing is that Oppam’s important shooting location was also Kochi.

After Haiwaan, the director will make his 100th film, in which Mohanlal will again play the lead role. He says that the script for this project is not yet finalized, but shooting will begin from next year.

On his long relationship with Akshay, Priyadarshan said, “It’s all about comfort. For me, Akshay is the Mohanlal of Bollywood.”

Priyadarshan confirmed that he will direct ‘Hera Pheri 3’

The filmmaker confirmed that he will direct Hera Pheri 3. Akshay, Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal will be seen together again in this.

Regarding the film, Priyadarshan said, “I usually don’t make sequels to my films, but I will definitely make Hera Pheri 3 because producers have been asking for a long time.”

It’s worth noting that Priyadarshan has made films like ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Hulchul’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, ‘Hungama’ and Garam Masala in his Bollywood career.
