The GST Department has made a tax demand of ₹40 crore from Zomato (Eternal). This tax demand is based on audits and investigations between July 2017 and March 2020.
The three notices received by the company include ₹17.19 crore GST, ₹21.42 crore interest and ₹1.71 crore penalty. These orders were issued by the GST Joint Commissioner Bengaluru.
The company stated in its regulatory filing that it will challenge this demand in court. The company has said that they expect a ruling in their favor according to law. They will start the appeal process soon
