Monsoon leads to rapid increase in skin related problems. In the past few days, Hamidia Hospital and JP Hospital in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, have seen more than 10-fold increase in skin patients. Instead of 10-12 patients daily, now 100 to 150 people are visiting doctors troubled by fungal and bacterial infections. The main reason is increased humidity in the weather, which promotes ringworm, scabies, itching and other infections.
During the rainy season, moisture and dampness in the environment increases. This moisture provides an opportunity for bacteria and fungi to thrive, which leads to increased skin problems like itching, red spots, boils, pimples, rashes and odor. Additionally, the risk of various skin diseases also increases
During rains, constant moisture and sweat can quickly lead to skin infections. Therefore, always keep skin clean and dry. Wipe your body well after bathing. Change wet or sweaty clothes immediately and wear light clothes like cotton. With these simple habits, you can keep your skin protected during monsoon.
Dermatologist Dr. Sheena Kapoor says that fungal infection is a contact infection, meaning it can spread from one person to another. If someone touches an infected person’s skin, uses their towel, clothes, shoes or bed, the risk of infection increases. That’s why doctors advise not to share personal hygiene items with a person who has fungal infection
