The government will now sell rice at Rs 25 per kg under the Bharat brand. The government is doing this to control the rise in rice prices. The government already sells flour and pulses under this brand. At present the average price of rice in the country is Rs 43 per kg.
It will be sold through the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (Nafed), National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF) and Kendriya Bhandar outlets.
