BJP plans expansion to align with new dists

Jaipur, April 24, 2025.

BJP’s state president Madan Rathore Wednesday signalled a major expansion of the party’s organisational structure now that eight new districts had been created in Rajasthan. The number of BJP’s district units is expected to increase from 44 to between 55 and 58, aligning with the state’s recent administrative reconfiguration from 33 to 41 districts.

Rathore discussed the proposed changes in a meeting with BJP’s national general secretary BL Santosh in Delhi on Wednesday. “The state unit will soon propose 10–13 new organisational districts to the party’s central committee for approval,” Rathore said, adding that the restructuring is expected to be completed within a month.

The new districts are Beawar, Balotra, Deeg, Didwana-Kuchaman, Dudu, Kotputli-Behror, Khairthal-Tijara, Phalodi, and Salumber. The saffron party’s expansion is also seen as preparation for the upcoming municipal elections.

“Our structure differs from that of the Congress, which has already increased its units from 42 to 50. We aim to establish one organisational district for every 3–4 assembly constituencies. The focus remains on how effectively district presidents and their teams can serve the people,” Rathore explained.

Party sources also indicated that a cabinet expansion is under consideration—nearly 18 months into the current govt’s term. “The expansion is expected to cater to factions, including those led by former CM Vasundhara Raje and former state president Satish Poonia, while bringing in fresh faces and replacing underperforming ministers. The discussions are at an advanced stage,” a senior party source revealed.
