New Delhi, March 03, 2025.
BSP chief Mayawati expelled her nephew Akash Anand from the party on March 3, 2025, citing his lack of political maturity and arrogance influenced by his father-in-law. This came just a day after she removed him from all party positions and declared that she would have no political successor during her lifetime.
She emphasized that the party and movement take precedence over family ties.
Akash, son of Mayawati’s youngest brother Anand Kumar, was twice declared as her successor within 15 months but was removed both times. Initially appointed on December 10, 2023, he lost all responsibilities on May 7, 2024, due to controversial statements.
However, he was reinstated as National Coordinator on June 23, 2024. On March 2, 2025, he was again stripped of all roles before his final expulsion a day later.
