CBSE changes Class 11, 12 question paper format

Jaipur, April 05, 2024.

CBSE has introduced changes in assessment and evaluation to align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Class 11 and 12 board exams will now have more competency-based questions and fewer constructed response questions.

As per the revised guidelines, the competency-focused questions in the form of MCQs/case-based questions, source-based integrated questions or any other type in Class 11 and 12 have been increased from 40 per cent to 50 per cent. On the other hand, the constructed response questions (short answer questions/ long answer type questions, as per existing pattern) have been reduced from 40 per cent to 30 per cent in the 2024-25 academic session. The select response type questions (MCQ) remain the same (20 per cent).
