A day after deputy chief minister Diya Kumari held a meeting with the Union minister of MoRTH, Nitin Gadkari, the Centre on Friday sanctioned Rs 1,154 crore for the development of 27 roads in the state and another Rs 30 crore for the construction of a railway under-bridge in Sriganganagar. The fund was allotted from the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).
“This is an important gift and a big step towards accelerating the infrastructure and development of the state. The construction of these roads will benefit many areas of Rajasthan. This will not only facilitate transportation but will also boost trade, tourism, and agriculture sectors,” said Kumari, who is also the state PWD minister.
The state PWD has made a detailed plan on how and where to utilise the fund. With this amount, 27 road projects of Major District Road (MDR) and State Highway category will be widened and strengthened in 17 districts of 15 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state.
The department has plans to construct 24km of roads in Alwar district, 51km in Khairthal-Tijara district, 28.62km in Kotputli-Behror district, 49km in Balotra district, 44km in Shahpura district, 71.80km in Bikaner district, 17km in Pratapgarh district, and 57.70km of roads in Jaipur Rural district. Similarly, 49km of roads will be constructed in Jalore, 81.25km in Jhalawar district, 53km in Phalodi, 33km in Bundi district, 67km in Jodhpur rural, 58km in Rajsamand, 25.43km in Tonk, and 39km of roads in Udaipur. In addition, PWD will construct a high-level bridge on the Kalisindh river in Kota at a cost of Rs 70 crore. “The Central Govt has approved this fund from the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) and under the Setu Bandhan Yojana,” an official added.
