Jaipur, December 13, 2024.
Cold wave conditions further intensified across the state on Thursday, with most places witnessing a dip of almost 3°C in their minimum and maximum temperatures. Fatehpur remained the coldest in the state, where a minimum temperature of 0.1°C was recorded. Even the people of the state capital, Jaipur, experienced the coldest morning of the season so far.
Attributing the intensified cold wave in the state to the active northerly winds and upper air cyclonic circulation, the Met office said that many places in western and some places in eastern Rajasthan are likely to experience cold wave conditions in the coming days too.
People in Jaipur woke up to the coldest morning of the season so far, with a minimum temperature of 6.8 °C, almost 3°C below the normal notch. Chilly winds were witnessed during the early morning and late evening hours.
Roads appeared empty during the early morning and late evening hours with continued dip in the mercury for the third consecutive day. The continuous dip in mercury has also impacted footfall of morning walkers at the city parks. In the evening, people gathered at various eateries to beat the shivering cold with sizzlers and hot beverages.
The Met office added that cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in the state, especially in the Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Ajmer divisions, in the coming days.
“The increase in the humidity levels and the northerly winds have brought snowfall at the hill stations, due to which states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana are experiencing chilly winds and dipping temperatures,” said an officer with IMD, Delhi.
