This question arose after the heavy sale of adulterated or fake paneer in many cities. In the most recent case, Pune police and Food and drug Administration (FDA) busted a fake paneer racket where authorities seized 1400 kg of adulterated paneer.
Now this has raise concerns about the consumption of adulterated paneer and its impact on health. Thus, it is important to know whether you are buying real paneer or an adulterated product.
Adulterated or analogue paneer is typically manufactured by mixing milk powder with water, along with lime juice and acetic acid. For giving it an authentic look, palm oil is added, making the product appear creamy and glossy.
