Galtaji Phagotsav features colourful cultural spectacle

Jaipur, March 11, 2025.

Residents of Pink City witnessed the vibrant Braj Ki Holi, Monday, as the Rajasthan govt hosted Galtaji Phagotsav for the first time, featuring Phoolon Ki Holi—a floral celebration inspired by Braj’s traditions. “We have heard about Phoolon Ki Holi, traditionally played in Uttar Pradesh’s Braj region on the third day before Holi. This year, we had the opportunity to witness this unique festival right here in Jaipur,” said Anand Sharma, who visited Galtaji Temple for the event.

For the first time, the festivities featured Chang-Dhamal performances by artists from the Shekhawati region, along with a grand aarti and rangoli displays. The Galtaji Temple was illuminated with lights, creating a mesmerising atmosphere.

“It was an incredible experience to play Holi with flowers alongside Lord Rama from the Treta Yuga and Lord Krishna from the Dwapar Yuga,” said devotee Amit Swami.

Previously, Phagotshav was confined to the temple’s inner sanctum, but this year, organisers expanded the celebration across the entire Galtaji Temple premises to involve more residents.

“The Galta-ji Temple is a pilgrimage of historical importance. The govt will leave no stones unturned to maintain its tradition and heritage,” said chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who attended the festival. sThe event marked a grand cultural spectacle, blending Rajasthan’s traditions with the vibrancy of Braj’s Holi.
