Garlic prices go north in Rajasthan, hit Rs 600/kg

Jaipur, November 22, 2024.

Pungent garlic has gone missing from curries and kitchens in the state as prices for the spice zoomed this month, ranging from Rs 400 to Rs 600 per kg in the retail market.
Prolonged monsoon, heavy rains and moisture have damaged the crop in the prime growing areas of Kota, Baran, Bundi and Jodhpur, taking production down. After Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan is the largest producer of garlic.
