Teenage sensation Sanskar Saraswat rounded up the year on a dream note by becoming the first Rajasthan shuttler to win a senior national title.
Eighteen-year-old Jodhpur boy Sanskar and his partner Arsh Mohammad of Uttar Pradesh won the men’s doubles crown at the Yonex-Sunrise 86th Senior National Badminton Championships which concluded in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
Reigning junior national champions Sanskar and Arsh added the senior national title to their collection by stunning top seeds Naveen P and Lokesh V 21-12, 12-21, 21-19 in an exciting men’s doubles summit clash which lasted for nearly an hour.Exactly a month ago, Sanskar and Arsh clinched the Under-19 boys’ doubles title of the 47th Junior National Badminton Championships 2024 at Bhubaneswar, Odisha on November 25. Second seeds Sanskar and Arsh trounced Mithileish P Krishnan (Pondicherry) and R Arulmurugan (Tamil Nadu) 21-16, 21-19 in the U-19 boys doubles summit clash that lasted for 40 minutes.
With Tuesday’s triumph in Bengaluru, Sanskar and Arsh created a new national record as they became the first player in the Indian badminton history to win junior and senior national titles in the same year.
