Jaipur, November 15, 2024.
Mercury levels across Rajasthan continued to drop on Thursday following snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Poor visibility due to fog and mist affected vehicular traffic on highways in Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh districts. Mount Abu recorded the state’s lowest temperature at 9.2 degrees Celsius, according to the Met department.
The Met office attributed the weather changes to active northerly winds and predicted further temperature drops due to an upcoming upper air cyclonic circulation. Jaipur residents experienced a chilly morning with a minimum temperature of 19.2 degrees, followed by a smoggy afternoon reaching 31.4 degrees. Forecasters expect Jaipur’s minimum temperature to fall below 15 degree Celsius in the coming week.
Other cities recorded varying minimum temperatures: Sirohi (12.8°C), Fatehpur (12.9°C), Bhilwara (14.1°C), Churu (14.5°C), Udaipur (14.6°C), Pilani (15.0°C), Dholpur (15.5°C), Sikar (17.0°C), Kota (17.4°C), Jodhpur (18.0°C), Jaisalmer (18.3°C), and Barmer (19.6°C). The Met office predicts a further drop in temperatures from November 18 onwards. “We’ve observed a continuous decline in both minimum and maximum temperatures across the state. Most regions are likely to experience winter conditions in the next week, with mild showers expected in parts of Haryana and Rajasthan,” a Met official stated.
