Mumbai Indians (MI) thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 8 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday to earn their first points of IPL 2025.
After opting to bowl first, MI bowled out KKR for 116 in 16.2 overs. Ashwani Kumar had a dream outing on debut, finishing with figures of 4 for 24 from 3 overs.
The tone, however, was set when Trent Boult removed Sunil Narine for a duck with an away swinging yorker and Deepak Chahar got rid of Quinton de Kock in the very next over.
Post that, it was all about the debutant with Hardik Pandya, Vignesh Puthur and Mitchell Santner all finding themselves amongst wickets.
None of the KKR batters could apply themselves in the middle. In response, MI reached their target with 43 balls remaining with Ryan Rickelton scoring an unbeaten 62 off 41.
