Jaipur, January 29, 2025.
A couple of days after Vidarbha defeated Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy in Jaipur, the younger team of Rajasthan thrashed Vidarbha by an innings and 113 runs in the BCCI CK Nayudu Under-23 Trophy tournament at the VCA Kalamna ground in Nagpur on Tuesday.
Vidarbha, who were tottering at 149 for 5 after following on at the end of Day 3, could add just 49 runs on the fourth and final day and bundled out for 198 in their second innings.
Left-arm spinner Mohit Changra bagged a five-wicket haul to skittle out the hosts cheaply. The promising bowler is now leading wicket takers in India with 36 wickets to his credit. Off-spinner Manish Acharya and medium-pacer Ashok Sharma scalped a couple of wickets each.
Skipper Karan Lamba laid the foundation of the big victory by cracking a splendid double hundred.
With this crushing victory, Rajasthan now jumped to the second spot in the Elite Group C with 59 points. Punjab are leading the pool with 69 points.
Rajasthan will play their last league match against Railways from February 1 here at the KL Saini Stadium. Top two teams qualify for the knock-out stage of the tournament.
For Vidarbha, Ankit Pande waged a lone battle with a gritty half-century, but other batsmen found Rajasthan bowling attack too hot to handle.
