MoU between RVUNL and Singareni Collieries

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government has taken important decisions for a strong transmission system and production of thermal and renewable energy in the state. With these far-reaching decisions, Rajasthan will soon emerge as the ‘energy provider’ in the country. He said that the MoU signed between Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), an undertaking of the Central Government and Telangana Government, will prove to be a milestone in the direction of power generation and supply in the state.


Sharma was addressing the MoU signing program organized between Singareni Collieries Company Limited and Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited at the Chief Minister’s residence. He said that along with being the largest state in the country, Rajasthan is emerging as a state with immense potential in solar energy. Soon Rajasthan will become self-reliant in the energy sector. He said that our government is taking policy decisions towards providing electricity to the farmers of the state during the day by 2027 and is also ensuring their timely implementation.


1500 MW solar park to be built in Rajasthan, 800 MW electricity will be available: Sharma said that under the MoU, thermal based projects of 1600 MW capacity will be set up in Telangana. Out of this, 800-800 MW electricity will be available to both Telangana and Rajasthan. Apart from this, a 1500 MW solar park will be set up in Rajasthan, for which RVUNL has also identified the land. There will be an investment of about Rs 6 thousand crore in this park and employment opportunities will also be created. The total estimated cost of all these projects is Rs 22 thousand crore.


Important step towards the target of 54000 MW capacity: The Chief Minister said that in the Clean Energy Policy-2024, Rajasthan has set a target of producing 125 GW of solar energy by 2030. We have taken far-reaching decisions towards achieving the target of more than 54 thousand MW of power capacity from traditional and renewable energy sources by the year 2031-32. The state government signed investment agreements with central undertakings on March 10, 2024 and during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, totaling Rs 2 lakh 28 thousand 800 crore. Along with this, an investment MoU of Rs 10 thousand crore has also been signed between Power Grid Corporation and RVUNL. The Chief Minister expressed hope that the concerned PSUs, departments and agencies should complete these projects soon and play an important role in meeting the power needs of the state and the country.


Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that Rajasthan’s immense solar energy is ensuring a better future. This MoU signed for Telangana’s efficiency in thermal energy production and Rajasthan’s unlimited solar potential will write a new chapter in the energy sector. Minister of State for Energy (Independent Charge) Hiralal Nagar said that the Energy Department will ensure quick implementation of these projects by establishing better coordination with the Telangana government. On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Energy Alok gave a presentation and gave detailed information regarding the MoU.


Principal Secretary Energy (Telangana) Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Principal Secretary (Chief Minister) Alok Gupta, RVUNL CMD Devendra Shringi, Singareni Collieries Company Limited CMD N. Balaram and other senior officials of the concerned departments were present in the program.
