Struggling with fewer movie releases and decreasing crowds, theatres will be giving out discounted tickets to pull more viewers through their doors.
Multiplexes and single-screen cinemas have joined hands to offer movies at just Rs 99 on May 31, which will be celebrated as Cinema Lovers Day.
This special offer will be available across major multiplex chains including PVR Inox, Cinepolis India, Miraj Cinemas, Multa A2, and MovieMax.
Kamal Gianchandani, head of the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and CEO of PVR Inox Pictures, said that this initiative covers approximately 4,000 screens nationwide.
While premium formats such as recliners are excluded, around 90-95% of seats will be up for grabs at the discounted rate.
Additionally, many single-screen cinemas, particularly in the South, will also participate, with some offering tickets for even less than Rs 99, possibly as low as Rs 70.
