Nirjala Ekadashi is on Friday, June 6. It is considered the biggest Ekadashi of the year. Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month has great importance, because this fast is observed like a penance.Right now the heat is at its peak and during this time devotees stay hungry and thirsty the whole day, do not even drink water and do devotion by worshiping Lord Vishnu, chanting mantras, studying scriptures.
It is believed that a devotee who observes the Nirjala Ekadashi fast as per the rituals, gets the virtue of all the Ekadashis of the year in just one fast.
This fast is considered to be the most difficult, because the devotees do not even drink water the whole day. It is very difficult to live without water during summer, that is why devotees who observe this fast get the virtue of all 24 Ekadashis.
