Applications for new electricity connections can now be made through e-Mitra and applicants would not be required to visit offices of the discoms.
While the e-Mitra option was there earlier, it was not connected to the New Connection Management System module of discoms, requiring physical visits.
A senior official of the energy department said that Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Ajmer electricity distribution companies (discoms) have started the facility for all categories of consumers.
“Now, we have made it easy for people to get connections in all categories through e-Mitra,” said discoms chairman Aarti Dogra, adding that services related to depositing electricity bills and payment for other services are already provided on e-Mitra.
The department is working on providing services like increasing or decreasing approved electricity load, and changing names and categories through e-Mitra as well.
Dogra said this will reduce paper use as earlier it was required to prepare separate manual documents for every connection in sub-division offices.
She said the e-Mitra application has been integrated with the New Connection Management System module of discoms.
Due to the integration, all the processes like inspection done at the level of discom personnel, issuing demand notes, and other functions will also be maintained on the NCMS module. “This will help monitoring of pending connections online,” added Dogra.
