Barmer, February 06, 2025.
In just three days after My NREGA App was launched in Barmer district, as many as 3,250 job requests were processed with the help of the mobile application, said officials of the district administration on Wednesday.
Locals who applied for NREGS jobs said they were happy that they did not have to visit the panchayat office for the task and could do it sitting at home. Women workers were particularly happy with the introduction of the app.
My NREGA App, which Barmer district administration launched at Daruda gram panchayat on Monday, enables workers to apply for employment from their homes, eliminating the need for long-distance travel to gram panchayat offices. The app, they said, has started showing beneficial results by streamlining job requests for NREGs workers.
“The app is already proving a game-changer for workers in remote areas. It saves time and effort, making the process more accessible. Our goal is to make governance citizen-friendly and reduce everyday challenges for people,” said district collector Tina Dabi during the launch, emphasising the improvements done in the app over the traditional Form No. 6 system.
NREGA commissioner Pushpa Satyani and additional commissioner Jugalkishore Meena had joined the launch ceremony remotely. They praised the innovation and recommended the expansion of the app to other districts of Rajasthan.
Siddharth Palnichamy, the CEO of Barmer District Council, said the app allows any family member of NREGS job card holders can submit requests on their behalf. Confirmation of the job request getting registered comes by SMS text on the job card holders’ mobile phones, ensuring transparency, he said. “We have started it in five gram panchayats. We would expand its use further based on the response we receive,” he added.
Sources said the app’s success in Barmer district in just three days after its launch has encouraged senior officials to consider its wider implementation across Rajasthan. The move, they said, could transform the employment process for NREGS workers statewide
