Jaipur, December 02, 2024.
The state govt has set a target of Rs 1.5 lakh crore in exports by 2029 in the new policy approved by the Cabinet on Saturday. Goods worth Rs 83,704 crore were exported from the state in 2023-24.
To reach this milestone, the industries department has laid out a roadmap with measures to improve the ecosystem for exports, diversify products, and expand the merchandise base, among others.
“Rajasthan is already a leader in products like gems and jewellery, handicrafts, dimension stones, textiles, and engineering goods. We are not only focusing on our core competencies but encouraging other sectors to emerge as market leaders,” said Ajitabh Sharma, principal secretary of the industries department.
With exporters from Rajasthan often losing out to competition from other countries, the department has made provisions in the policy such as improving infrastructure and reducing logistics costs to enhance competitiveness.
The department, Sharma said, is also emphasising streamlining compliance and regulatory processes to simplify export procedures. Imparting need-based training to stakeholders, and including exporting units and officials are also on the priority list, he added.
Federation of Rajasthan Trade and Industry (FORTI) president Suresh Agarwal said, “The new policy has rightly articulated the opportunities and challenges. The target of Rs 1.5 lakh crore is very much within reach even if some of these policy measures are implemented
