New Delhi, March 10,2025.The Indian government is setting up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to manufacture regional transport aircraft, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu announced on Monday. He emphasised that India now has the necessary policies to build aircraft and its components.Responding to questions in the Rajya Sabha, Naidu highlighted various government initiatives to promote aircraft component manufacturing and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) activities. Domestic airlines’ fleet to touch 1,400 planes in 5 years

New Delhi, November 21,2024.Civil Aviation Secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam on Thursday said the number of planes with domestic airlines will increase to 1,400 in the next five years as he highlighted the growth potential of the country's aviation space.Currently, the fleet is around 800 aircraft and leading carriers IndiGo and Air India have placed significant plane orders.At a function in the national capital, the secretary also mentioned about the opportunities for women in the aviation sector, including in the drone segment.

New Delhi, January 2024.Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia today virtually inaugurated a UDAN flight connecting Dehradun and Pithoragarh from New Delhi. Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami also joined the event from Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.The flight connecting the two cities is to be operated by “Fly Big” under the RCS UDAN Scheme. Pithoragarh Airport has been developed under the UDAN-RCS scheme, with a cost of Rs 6.68 Crore into a 2B VFR Airport. The RCS flight between Dehradun and Pithoragarh was awarded under UDAN 4.2. Fly Big will be operating a 19-seater Twinotter DHC6-400 aircraft for ferrying the passengers. New Delhi, January 11, 2024.The Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia today inaugurated the direct flight between Ayodhya and Ahmedabad from New Delhi.
