First engine from Railways’ new loco plant likely to be launched in April 2025
New Delhi, March 02, 2025.Nearly three years after the decision to establish the Indian Railways’ fifth locomotive manufacturing plant in Dahod, Gujarat, was announced, the facility is set to begin the production of one of the most powerful electric locomotives (9,000 horsepower) as a prototype of the engine nears its completion, said Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, on Saturday.Vaishnaw visited the Dahod factory and inspected the prototype of the high horsepower electric locomotive which is undergoing different levels of testing.
