Shahzaib Khan’s brilliant 159 at the top of the order headlined Pakistan 44-run win over India in a Group A match of the U-19 Asia Cup in Dubai on Saturday.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan got the best possible start as the opening pair of Shahzaib and Usman Khan (60) put on 160 runs for the first wicket. Although Usman was dismissed, Shahzaib stayed strong at one end and anchored the innings while wickets continued to fall at the other end. Pakistan managed 281/7. For India, Samarth Nagaraj took three wickets for India. In reply, the eight-time champions were never in the chase as wickets fell at regular intervals. Nikhil Kumar tried to put some resistance with a 67-run knock before the last pair of Yudhajit Guha (27) and Mohamed Enaan (30) dragged the match towards the end before India were eventually all out for 237 in 47.1 overs.
