On this day, Mata Ekadashi is also worshipped along with Lord Vishnu.

According to the Hindu Scriptures, once there was a demon named Murasura, who used to scare people with his bad deeds and created terror among people. Deities got terrified by him and sought help from Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu then fought with him for hundred of years. Means while Lord Vishnu wanted to take rest and went into cave and slept there for some time and the name of the cave was Himavati. Murasura entered in that cave to kill Lord Vishnu so when Lord Vishnu was sleeping then to stop Murasura demon, a beautiful female and a divine feminine energy appeared in front of this demon and killed him after a long battle. Lord Vishnu was shocked seeing all this after he came out of the sleeping state. Shree Hari became very happy and considered that feminine energy as a part of him and named her as Utpanna Ekadashi. Since then the day is celebrated as the Utpanna Ekadashi.
