Oil India to invest Rs 25,000 crore for net zero emissions by 2040

New Delhi, September 17, 2024. State-owned Oil India Ltd plans to invest Rs 25,000 crore in clean energy projects to help achieve the net zero carbon emission goal by 2040, its chairman Ranjit Rath said on Saturday. OIL’s net zero plan includes a combination of cutting down the flaring of gas and commercialisation of stranded gas as well as setting up renewable electricity generation capacity, building green hydrogen plants and constructing biogas and ethanol plants. Pralhad Joshi says Rs 32.45 lakh crore finance pledged for renewables sector

New Delhi, September 17, 2024. Union New & Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi on Monday urged investors to invest in India saying that Rs 32.45 lakh crore finance in green projects has been committed by banks and financial institutions. Addressing the inaugural session of the 4th RE-INVEST 2024, Joshi said, “we have received overwhelming commitments from the states and UTs as well as from developers, manufacturers and financial institutions to support our goal of 500 GW by 2030.” He informed that developers have committed an additional 570 GW of capacity addition. The manufacturers have committed additional manufacturing capacities of 340 GW in solar modules, 240 GW in solar cells, 22 GW in wind turbines and 10 GW in electrolysers, he said.

New Delhi, September 17, 2024. Bajaj Housing Finance shares listed at Rs 150 on the stock exchanges on Monday, with a 114 per cent premium over the IPO price of Rs 70. The stock climbed further to hit the upper circuit at Rs 164.99 and closed at that level during the day. The company’s market capitalisation on the listing day was Rs 137,406 crore, according to the BSE data. This is the fourth finance company from the Bajaj stable to be listed on the exchanges. The rupee appreciated by 11 paise to settle at 83.75 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday amid a weaker greenback against major currencies and a decline in crude oil prices. The decline in wholesale inflation to a four-month-low and a strong domestic market pushed up the domestic unit, forex traders said. Retail inflation up to 3.65% in August on account of rise in food prices

Retail inflation inched higher to 3.65 per cent in August from the five-year low print of 3.60 per cent in July mainly on account of rise in food prices even as it continued to remain below the 4 per cent mark in the 4+/- 2 per cent band of medium-term inflation target set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) showed Thursday.
