

New Delhi, June 17, 2025.
Air India Flight (AI170) which was bound from London to Amritsar was cancelled on Tuesday, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24. The reason for the cancellation has not yet been confirmed; however, it could be due to technical issues or adverse weather conditions.
Meanwhile, Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) called an urgent meeting with Air India officials, DGCA. Director General of the DGCA, Faiz Ahmed Kidwai to chair a virtual meeting with Air India & Air India Express today.
According to sources, the technical problem in the aircraft was discovered just hours before departure. The issue was identified in time, averting another possible disaster.
The incident left hundreds of passengers stranded at the airport and caused severe inconvenience. This is the second consecutive cancellation of an Ahmedabad-London Air India flight, raising growing concerns over flight safety.
“Flight AI-159 from Ahmedabad to Gatwick has been cancelled today due to the unavailability of the aircraft, resulting from airspace restrictions and additional precautionary checks, leading to longer than usual turnaround of aircraft, and not due to any technical snag as claimed. We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers and have made alternative arrangements to fly them to their destination. We are providing hotel accommodation and also offering full refunds on cancellations or complimentary rescheduling if opted by the passengers.”
Air India Spokesperson said, “Flight AI143 from Delhi to Paris of 17 June has been cancelled. The mandatory pre-flight checks identified an issue which is being presently addressed
The Air India Flight AI 133 scheduled to depart from Bengaluru at 2.15pm for Heathrow airport (London) has been cancelled due to safety & Security reasons.
