New Delhi, March 25, 2025.

After a big hit in UK, Europe, American multinational pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly has announced the launch of Mounjaro – a blockbuster weight-loss drug in India. Obesity has become a big concern in many countries including India.

Even the Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised an alarm in this regard. He recently cautioned that every third person may suffer from serious illnesses due to obesity. Citing the Lancet study, he stated that 44 crore people in India could be obese by 2050!

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is once-weekly injectable medication designed to control blood sugar levels. It helps adults with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar when used alongside diet and exercise. Also, it is recommended by experts for weight management for people with a BMI of 30 kg/m² or higher (obesity) or 27 kg/m² or higher (overweight).
