Retail inflation at 4-month high, rises to 5.08% in June

New Delhi, July 12, 2024.Retail inflation surged to 5.08% in June, rising to a 4-month high on an annual basis from 4.80% in May last month, as per government data released on Friday, July 12, 2024.Food inflation rose to 9.55% in June, up from 8.69% in May and 4.55% in June 2023. Rural inflation climbed to 5.67% in June from 5.34% in May and 4.78% in June 2023.In contrast, urban inflation slightly decreased to 4.39% in June from 4.21% in May and 4.96% in June 2023.India's Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased by 5.9% in May compared to 5% in April, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on Friday.

New Delhi, July 11, 2024.Global food and beverages major PepsiCo on Thursday reported a double-digit growth in beverages volume in India in the second quarter of the 2024 calendar year, thereby leading to a 2 per cent overall rise in Africa, Middle East & South Asia region.The company also said its convenient foods unit volume grew double-digit in India in the April-June period."Beverage unit volume grew 2 per cent (in Africa, Middle East & South Asia - AMESA region), primarily reflecting double-digit growth in India, partially offset by a high-single-digit decline in Pakistan, a low-single-digit decline in the Middle East and a mid-single-digit decline in Nigeria," PepsiCo said in a regulatory filing.

New Delhi, July 11, 2024.State Bank of India (SBI) on Wednesday said it has raised Rs 10,000 crore through its sixth infrastructure bond issuance, offering a coupon of 7.36 per cent.The issue received bids in excess of Rs 18,145 crore and was oversubscribed by around 3.6 times against the base issue size of Rs 5,000 crore, the bank said.The total number of bids received was 120 from investors across segments, including provident funds, pension funds, insurance companies, mutual funds and corporates.The proceeds of bonds, having maturity of 15 years, will be utilized in enhancing long-term resources for funding infrastructure and affordable housing segments, the lender said.“This issuance will help in developing a long-term bond curve and encourage other banks to issue b...
