Air India has decided to make changes to its international network schedules for destinations in Southeast Asia, Europe, and Australia in an evident bid to capture more international connecting traffic to and from these regions via its main hub Delhi, and even Mumbai. The Tata group airline on Monday announced a slew of product upgrades and optimised flight schedules for these markets, with most of the changes taking effect in January and February. Optimising its network, Air India on Wednesday said it will deploy erstwhile Vistara's A320 planes that offer best narrow body cabin products on five key metro-to-metro routes, including Delhi-Mumbai and Mumbai-Hyderabad. The Tata Group-owned airline, which has embarked on an ambitious transformation journey, will continue to operate one flight with a wide body plane each between Delhi and Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru, Delhi and Hyderabad. Air India to deploy A350 planes on Delhi-London route from Sep 1

New Delhi, June 27, 2024. Air India will start operating its wide-body A350-900 aircraft on the Delhi-London route with two daily flights from September 1. The flights will mark the introduction of the plane on the international long-haul route, as Air India revamps and expands its operations to strengthen presence in international and domestic segments. "The A350-900 will replace the currently deployed Boeing 777-300 ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on 14 of 17 weekly flights. As a result, an additional 336 seats will be available on the Delhi-London Heathrow route each week," the airline said in a release on Thursday.

New Delhi, May 2024. Air India announced annual salary increments for its staff, and also introduced an annual target performance bonus for pilots, according to sources.  This is the first appraisal process after Tata Group took over the loss-making airline a little over two years ago. Air India CHRO Ravindra Kumar GP announced salary increments for employees, with effect from April 1, 2024, as well as performance bonus payouts for FY 2023-24 based on company and individual performance, sources said. Pilots will get an increase of ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 per month in their fixed pay. Also, they will be entitled to annual target performance bonus ranging from ₹42,000 to ₹1.8 lakh. Air India borrows USD 120 mn from Japan’s SMBC to buy Airbus plane

Mumbai, December 20, 2023. Japanese lender SMBC on Wednesday said the Tata Group-owned Air India has borrowed USD 120 million from it for purchasing a wide-body aircraft from Airbus. The transaction has partly financed Air India's purchase of an A350-900 aircraft from Airbus, which was delivered in October 2023, according to an official statement. SMBC said this is a secured debt facility through its Singapore branch, while Air India's GIFT City-headquartered arm AI Fleet Services is the borrower.

New Delhi, December 13, 2023. Tata Group's airline Air India unveiled Manish Malhotra-designed dresses for cabin crew and pilots. The airline's female cabin crew will wear ombre sarees with a modern touch, while the men will wear bandhgalas. For the cockpit crew, classic black suits have been designed. Manish Malhotra has also designed footwear to wear with the dress. While the women will wear dual-tone (black and burgundy) block heels, the male cabin crew will wear comfortable black brogues. Dress has also been designed for Air India's ground staff, engineers and security personnel. These have not been unveiled yet.
