Credit offtake grows 16.3% in March

Jaipur, May 01, 2024.The banking sector reported a higher credit offtake in March amid a pickup in demand from agriculture and industry segments while personal segment growth moderated.On a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis, non-food bank credit registered a growth of 16.3 per cent in March 2024 as compared with 15.4 per cent a year ago, the Reserve Bank said on Tuesday.“Personal loans growth moderated to 17.7 per cent (y-o-y) in March 2024 (21.0 per cent a year ago) due to decelerated growth in vehicle loans and other personal loans,” the RBI said. Credit growth to agriculture and allied activities was robust at 20.1 per cent (y-o-y) in March 2024 (15.4 per cent a year ago).Credit to industry grew by 8.5 per cent (y-o-y) in March 2024 as compared with 5.6 per cent in March 2023. ...

Jaipur, May 01, 2024.The Reserve Bank of India has updated its “guidance note” on operational risk management for the financial sector, and also extended it to the non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), including housing finance companies.The 2005 ‘Guidance Note on Management of Operational Risk’ covered only commercial banks.The RBI said all regulated entities (REs) in India should implement a robust information and communication technology (ICT) risk management programme in alignment with their operational risk management framework.“REs should manage their dependencies on relationships, including those of, but not limited to, third parties (which include intragroup entities), for the delivery of critical operations,” the Reserve Bank said in its guidance note.All r...

GST collection hits record high at Rs 2.10 lakh crore in April 2024

Jaipur, May 01, 2024.India’s gross Goods and Services tax (GST) collections rose to a record-high level of Rs 2.10 lakh crore in April (for year-end sales in March), data released by the Finance Ministry on Wednesday (May 1) showed.Driven mainly by a rise in domestic transactions, which increased 13.4 per cent year-on-year along with a higher compliance in the backdrop of anti-evasion measures being taken by authorities, the gross GST collections increased by 12.4 per cent in April.This is the highest level of GST collections recorded since the July 2017 of the indirect tax regime. The previous highest level registered under GST was Rs 1.87 lakh crore in April 2023, reflecting year-end sales of March 2023.

New Delhi, April 30, 2024.Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd on Tuesday reported a decline of 6.45 per cent in profit after tax at Rs 154.37 crore in the third quarter ended March 2024 on account of one-time tax impacts.The company, which follows the July-June financial year, had reported a profit after tax of Rs 165.02 crore in the corresponding quarter of the preceding fiscal.However, Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd (PGHH) revenue from operations increased 13.48 per cent to Rs 1,002.17 crore during the quarter under review. It was at Rs 883.09 crore a year ago.

New Delhi, April 30, 2024.Drug firm Granules India on Tuesday said it has received approval from the US health regulator to market a medication used to prevent or treat gout attacks.Granules Pharmaceuticals, Inc, a wholly-owned foreign subsidiary of the company, has received approval from the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) for Colchicine Capsules (0.6 mg), it said in a regulatory filing.The company’s product is therapeutically equivalent to Hikma International Pharmaceuticals LLC’s Mitigare Capsules (0.6 mg), it added.Colchicine Capsules are indicated for prophylaxis of gout flares in adults.According to industry sources, the current annual market for Colchicine Capsules in the US is expected to be around USD 55 million.

New Delhi, April 30, 2024.The Supreme Court on Tuesday reprimanded the Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority for its "inaction" in the misleading advertisement case against Patanjali Ayurved. The court stated that the authority "tried to wash away everything". It also pulled up the Baba Ramdev-promoted company, noting it was "not complying" with its orders.The Patanjali produced an e-copy of the public apology when the court asked for original records. In response, the bench said, "This is not compliance". "I am raising my hands in this case; enough of this non-compliance of our orders," the bench of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah said.
