Markets continue to rally for 2nd day on positive global trends

Mumbai, November 03, 2023. Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended with gains on Friday in line with positive trends in global markets. Extending its previous day's rally, the 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 282.88 points or 0.44 per cent to settle at 64,363.78. During the day, it jumped 454.29 points or 0.70 per cent to 64,535.19. The Nifty went up by 97.35 points or 0.51 per cent to 19,230.60.

Air pollution may increase risk of type 2 diabetes

New Delhi, November 03, 2023. Exposure to polluted air is associated with an increased risk of type-2 diabetes, according to a first study of its kind in India published in the BMJ Open Diabetes Research and Care journal. The study conducted in Delhi and Chennai found that inhaling air with high amounts of fine pollution particles (PM2.5) -- 30 times thinner than a strand of hair -- led to high blood sugar levels and increased type-2 diabetes incidence.

New Delhi’s air quality sinks further into very poor category

New Delhi, November 01, 2023. A layer of haze hung over Delhi and its surrounding areas on Wednesday, with the capital's air quality slipping deeper into the 'very poor' category primarily due to a dip in temperature and calm winds during the night. The city's Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 372 at 10 am, the highest so far this season. IDFC First Bank Q2 Results: Net profit jumps 35% YoY to Rs 751 crore

Jaipur, October 2023. IDFC First Bank reported a net profit of Rs 751 crore for the quarter ended September 30 which was up 35% year-on-year versus Rs 556 crore reported by the company in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The standalone core operating profit grew 38% YOY from Rs 1,052 crore in Q2FY23 to Rs 1,456 crore for Q2FY24. The net interest income (NII) grew 32% YoY from Rs 3,002 crore in Q2FY23 to Rs 3,950 crore in Q2FY24. The net interest margin was 6.32% in Q2FY24 as compared to 5.83% in Q2FY23 and 6.33% in Q1FY24. India 5G rollout fastest in world but revenues not picked up: COAI DG

New Delhi, October 30, 2023. Rollout of 5G network in India has been the fastest in the world but revenue has not picked up as apps that are generating 80 per cent of the traffic are not paying for the network, a top official of the telecom industry body COAI said. While speaking with PTI at India Mobile Congress, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) Director General S P Kochhar said telecom players do not want to burden consumers but someone has to bear the cost of investment being made in the network. "The 5G rollout has been very good. It has set world records with the fastest 5G rollout. But having said that, I'm a little constrained to say that the revenues for the telecom industry have not picked up," Kochhar said.

New Delhi, October 30, 2023. 08 people were killed and 32 injured after two trains collided on the Howrah-Chennai line in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday evening, police said. A senior official of the East Coast Railway (ECR) said the Palasa passenger train hit the Rayagada passenger train from behind at Kankatapalli, causing three coaches to derail.
