At the beginning of the financial year 2023-24, the rupee was at Rs 82.39 per dollar, which has now come down to Rs 83.40 per dollar.

Net direct tax collection at Rs 10.64 lakh cr in Apr-Nov

New Delhi, December 14, 2023.Net direct tax collection in the eight months of the current fiscal touched 58.34 per cent of Budget Estimates (BE) at Rs 10.64 lakh crore.The net tax collection for April-November stood at Rs 10.64 lakh crore, which is 23.4 per cent higher than the corresponding period of last year, the Ministry of Finance said.Gross collections, before issuing refunds, grew 17.7 per cent to Rs 12.67 lakh crore in the April-November period.

Hindalco plans Rs 800 crore investment to set up battery foil manufacturing unit in Odisha

Mumbai, December 12, 2023.Aluminium producer Hindalco Industries on Tuesday announced its plan to set up a battery foil manufacturing facility at Sambalpur in Odisha with an investment of Rs 800 crore to tap the fast-expanding electric vehicle market.The facility, to be commissioned by July 2025, will initially produce 25,000 tonnes of the aluminium foil which forms the backbone of lithium-ion and sodium-ion cells, Hindalco Industries said.The company also plans to significantly expand its capacity of making fine-quality aluminium foil which is used in rechargeable batteries.
