Health – Knees getting damaged at a young age: Knee cartilage is not repaired, it is replaced, carelessness can be dangerous.

Jaipur, November 28, 2023.

Just 30 years ago in 1990, there were about 2.3 crore cases of osteoarthritis in India. In 2019 this number increased to 6.2 crores.

After all, what is the reason that cases of osteoarthritis are increasing at such a rapid rate? And the most worrying thing is the fact that the people falling prey to this disease are no longer just the elderly. It is also affecting the youth.

People have this concept in their minds that the more we walk, the more stairs we climb, the stronger our joints will become. But do you know that due to hard surfaces present everywhere on the road, home, office and non-cushioned shoes, heels and hard-soled footwear, the cartilage of the knees can get damaged quickly.

Knee osteoarthritis, a type of arthritis, which was once considered a disease of the elderly, is today being seen in younger people as well. One of the biggest reasons for this is lifestyle.

Along with this, deficiency of calcium, vitamin D and low physical activity are most responsible for this. All these cause the knee cartilage to deteriorate in the future.

Once a bone is broken, it gets fixed again, but the cartilage getting damaged in osteoarthritis cannot be repaired again. Therefore, the only solution to avoid this is to take precautions in time.
